Carl Brooks was instrumental in getting the current building built. Located in front of the flag.


Gene Wefler. Located at the base of a tree near the gas meters in the right parking lot.

Jim Marlatt tree memorial. Located
at the base of a tree off the sidewalk on the right driveway.

These memorials were originally at the Vandalia Post when they sold their post they donated them to Post 598


 M1903 Springfield rifle, caliber .30-06. Ours was made at the Remington Arsenal.

It is a 5 round magazine fed, bolt action rifle that was used by US forces primarily during WWI.


Commemorative Tree Planting Program


In 2023 Mike Patterson started the Commenorative Tree Planting program. This program is designed to encourage planting of quality trees throughout our park area at the American Legion Post 589, Kettering, Ohio. The Tree Program can be used to commemorate an event, person, or group with a tree & commemorative granite marker with inscription.
