American Legion Auxiliary Gift Shop

at Dayton VA Medical Center

 


The gift shop mainly serves Veterans who are in residence at the Domiciliary (DOM), the Veterans of America (VOA), and the Nursing Home on the campus.  This includes a maximum of 80 men and women that are homeless, but are now in a variety of different programs, some of which are alcohol/drug rehabilitation, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) programs, and those attending classes learning new work skills. 

The gift shop supplies personal care items, new socks and underwear, new and used clothing that is donated to the gift shop.  These items are given free of charge to the these veterans.  Also available are nail clippers, stamped envelopes, phone cards, popcorn, flip-flops and lap blankets.

The shop is open on Mondays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and has a staff of eight volunteers.  Ms. Carol Kelly of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 598 has been appointed as Chief Representative by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio for the past 5 years.
